This week are featuring some of our office staff and their personal stories about their moms. Here, Kelley shares her story.
Throughout the years my mother has displayed her quiet strength in the tough times and outright silliness in the good times.
No matter what the circumstance, she has made it through on the other end with a smile on her face. Through her faith in God, support of family and friends and just an overall great attitude she will keep on keeping on.
Growing up I can’t remember a time when my mother took a selfish moment for herself. She was always busy helping dad on the farm or raising us 4 kids. And, if I must be honest, we have all had our moments throughout the years that we have challenged my mother’s grace.
She displayed her quiet strength as she became a widow at a young age after my dad passed away of cancer. And her quiet strength was revisted after being diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago. I do remember, though seeing the fear in my mother’s eyes, as she received the news that she had cancer. But as soon as the game plan was presented to her by her doctor, she was ready to face it head on and we’re so happy to say that she is now cancer free.
She has always been a people person and truly enjoys an occasional dinner with a friend, attending the Garden Club meetings, Saturday night singing jamboree. I even have spoke with her on a few occasions when she is out shopping for herself. You deserve it mom.
Happy Mother’s Day.
I love you.
